Al Khushoo  Fi-Salat
       Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem
  What does khushoo mean?
Khushoo means humility or devotion in prayer, we can father define as calmness and tranquility of the body and attentiveness of the mind, in the salat.
**      Khushoo is the most important part of the salat, the prophet scw said,as narrated by Ammar bnu yaser rc, “one might finish the salat, but only have a tenth, ninth,……third or a half of it written for him,, abu dawood, this tells us that the percentage of your khushoo, will decide how many percent of reward(ajar) you will get from you prayer..
*      Khushoo can be physically, and internally, and the khushoo of internal feeling matters most, it leads you even, the physical khushoo, or the external one.
Internal khushoo means, to be attentive and concentrating what you are doing, and whom you are talking to, your heart must be free from, anything else except your prayer, it is not just closing your eyes as many think, closing your eyes while praying is makrooh, a disliked act, External kushoo is nothing  but, praying as the prophet scw has pried, meaning doing all your ruku’ sujud(prostration), and all other act in the salat, in accordance with how the prophet scw has did it..
*      the sahabas(companion of the prophet scw) used to refuse giving more emphasis for external khushoo, then internal one, while this is mostly due to riya’(show off), and they used to call khushoo of hypocracy, Hudhayfah (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to say:“Beware of the khushoo’ of hypocrisy.” He was asked, “What is the khushoo’ of hypocrisy?” He said, “When the body shows khushoo’ but there is no khushoo’ in the heart.” Fudayl ibn ‘Ayaad said:“It was disliked for a man to show more khushoo’ than he had in his heart.” One of them saw a man showing khushoo’ in his shoulders and body, and said, “O So and so, khushoo’ is here” – and he pointed to his chest, “not here” – and he pointed to his shoulders. a similar saying was reported from Ibnu Qayim,,,
Rulig  of khushoo fi-salat
As scholars said khushoo in salat in compulsory(wajib).
How to attain khushoo fi-salat
v  Striving to gain that which gives and strengthens khushoo’
This can be achieved in several ways, such as the following:
v  Preparing oneself for prayer properly
ü  By repeating the words of the adhaan after the muezzin
ü  By pronouncing the du’aa’ to be recited after the adhaan
ü  Rounded Rectangle: JIMMA UNIVERSITY MUSLIM JEMA’A
DA’AWA & IRSHAD

Reciting du’aa’ between the adhaan and the iqaamah;
ü  Doing wudoo’ properly, saying Bismillaah before it and making dhikr and saying du’aa’ after it,
ü  Using siwaak to cleanse and perfume the mouth that is going to recite Qur’aan in short while, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said “Purify your mouths for the Qur’aan.”
ü  We should also prepare ourselves by covering our ‘awrah properly, purifying the spot where we are going to pray, getting ready early and waiting for the prayer, and making the rows straight and solid, without any gaps, because the shayaateen come in through the gaps in the rows.
v  Remembering death whilst praying
v  Thinking about the aayaat and adhkaar being recited during the prayer and interacting with them
v  Reciting in slow, rhythmic tones (tarteel) and making one’s voice beautiful when reciting.
v  Praying with a barrier (sutrah) in front of one and praying close to it
v  Looking at the place of prostration
v  Seeking refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan
v  Striving to offer du’aa’ at the appropriate times during the prayer, especially in Sujood, and asking Allah always to give you khushoo in your salat.
Prophet scw used to say “O Allah I seek refuge with you from a heart   that has no khushoo,, tirmidi
v  Removing anything that may distract the worshipper
§  Not praying when there is food prepared that one wants to eat
§  Not praying when one needs to answer the call of nature
§  Not turning around during prayer
§  Not raising one's gaze to the heavens
§  Not putting one’s hands on one’s hips when praying
§  Not letting one’s clothes hang down (sadl) during prayer
§  Not resembling animals or imitating how they sit and glance things
§  Always exerting good deeds and avoiding bad deeds.
§  Knowing the tricks of iblees and making your anemy..
These are some of things you can make to have a kushoo in your salat, iinshaaAllaah, so that, it will be accounted as good in the day of judgment, and all other deeds will be like so…

Allah  said:-  “Successful indeed are the believers,
those who offer their salaah (prayers) with all solemnity and fullsubmissiveness(kushoo).”[al-Mu’minoon 23:1-2] “and stand before Allaah with obedience” [al-Baqarah 2:238]
“And seek help in patience and al-salaah, and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for al-khaashi’oon…’ [al-Baqarah 2:45

…….may Allah give us khushoo, in our salat…Aaaamiiin..
